Nigeria’s health security will ultimately be strengthened not by any single institution or intervention, but by how effectively we connect surveillance, laboratories, workforce, communities and decision-making across the human, animal and environmental health sectors.

IFAIN is particularly pleased to be contributing directly to the development of Nigeria’s Pandemic Fund application. Our CEO, Prof Ehimario Igumbor, Founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), Prof Stephen Obaro and Head of Research & Delivery Dr Bernard Ebruke are playing lead coordination and technical roles in the application development process, working alongside Government of Nigeria and the wider group of technical, civil society and development partners to translate Nigeria’s priorities into a coherent and competitive investment case.

The real task is to ensure that this collective ambition results in investments that are country-owned, evidence-driven, implementable and sustainable well beyond the life of the grant.
