Prof Stephen Obaro, Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of the International Foundation Against Infectious Diseases in Nigeria (IFAIN), and Dr Bernard Ebruke today visited the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, where they met with the new Chief Medical Director, Professor Tahir Yunusa.
UATH has been an important research site and institutional partner in IFAIN’s work, contributing to studies that have advanced knowledge on infectious diseases, laboratory systems, surveillance, and clinical outcomes in Nigeria.
The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on this longstanding collaboration and discuss pathways for strengthening future partnerships in clinical research, capacity development, laboratory services, and evidence generation.
The IFAIN team was particularly encouraged by Prof Yunusa’s vision to further strengthen UATH’s clinical research platform while positioning the hospital to deliver world-class tertiary healthcare services.
We congratulate Prof Yunusa on his appointment and look forward to working with his leadership and the wider UATH community to deepen research excellence, strengthen clinical care, and generate evidence that improves health outcomes in Nigeria.
